Configuration of Procedures for Insights
Configuration of Procedures for Insights
Updated this week

The Configuration of Procedures for Insights feature allows you to customize the procedures automatically suggested for maintenance insights generated by the platform.

By default, the platform suggests procedures based on the information registered in the asset and the type of insight generated. However, in many cases, it’s necessary to adjust these suggestions to align with company standards or meet the specific needs of certain equipment.

This setup is done by combining assets and insight types, and linking them to customized procedures. As a result, whenever the defined conditions are met, the platform will automatically suggest the configured procedure.

Understanding the Combination Logic

Each combination connects three main elements:

  • Assets or Equipment Types: These can be individual assets (e.g., Pump C2445) or equipment categories (e.g., Hydraulic Pumps).

  • Insight Types: The alerts generated by the platform (e.g., Lubrication Issue).

  • Procedures: Specific instructions for investigating and resolving the issue.

A combination is created by associating a group of assets or equipment types with a set of insight types. Whenever one of the defined insights is triggered for any of the selected assets, the platform will automatically suggest the linked procedures.

Important note: Procedures created by TRACTIAN cannot be edited. This is related to the platform’s default procedure suggestions.

Exceptions

Exception logic helps streamline your setup by allowing you to apply rules to a broad group of assets while excluding specific cases that require different treatment.

You want to apply a procedure to all air compressors, except for the NH3 screw compressor. Simply add that asset as an exception.

Rules for adding exceptions:

  • You can only add individual assets as exceptions if their equipment type or “All Assets” is included in the configuration.

  • You can only add equipment types as exceptions if “All Assets” is selected.

Important note: Exceptions apply only to assets or equipment types, not to insights.

Adding a Combination

To configure procedures associated with insights, follow these steps:

1. Access the Settings

Open the Settings menu, click on the Procedures tab, then click on “Insights.”

2. Access the Procedures Table

You’ll see a table with all the procedures currently associated with each insight type. The platform applies Tractian’s default suggestions, but you can modify them as needed.

3. Add a New Combination

Click “Add” and complete the following:

  • Select Assets or Equipment Types
Choose which assets will use the procedure. If it's a general procedure, select “All Assets.”
If there are exceptions, select those assets to exclude.

  • Select Insight Types
Define which types of insights the procedure should apply to.

  • Select Procedures
Choose the procedures to apply when the combination conditions are met.

4. Save the Configuration

After completing all fields, click “Save.”

From now on, any insights that match the combination will automatically trigger the associated procedure.

Important note: You can add multiple parallel combinations for the same assets and insights.

If a piece of equipment receives multiple insights, the platform processes them intelligently to eliminate duplicate tasks and optimize the inspection workflow.
