Analyzing the Spectrum on Analytics
In the main menu of the platform, select the "Analytics" tab.
Then, choose the asset and the period to be analyzed.
To open the spectrum, choose the sample you wish to analyze and click on the selected point in the chart. A new window will be opened with the spectral analysis of the selected sample.
Sample Information
At the top of the page, you will find the general information of the sample, including the name of the asset, as well as the date and time it was conducted on.
When clicking on the Asset symbol, you will see a summary of the technical information related to that asset. This information supports in-depth analysis without the need to leave the page.
When clicking on the sample identification, you will see the sample's data and specifications.
If it is an expert sample, an audio file for that sample will also be added for experts in acoustic analysis.
Important note: in the case of an expert sample, its audio is also made available.
Spectrum Settings
The settings change the elements displayed on the chart. Select the most suitable parameters for the desired analysis.
Spectrum: Selects which spectrum will be displayed on the chart;
Unit: Selects which unit the data related to the Y-axis will be presented in;
Frequency: Selects which unit the data related to the X-axis will be presented in;
Scale: Sets the scale limit that will be displayed on the Y-axis.
How to Interact With Charts
Spectrum
The chart is built based on the settings defined for the spectrum.
Each line, with its unique color, symbolizes a specific quantity measured in a direction of the machine.
In the upper right corner of the chart, we find the caption, which indicates the exact value of the selected quantity as the cursor position moves across the frequency bands.
To activate or deactivate the display of a specific axis on the chart, simply click on the legend corresponding to that axis.
To zoom into a specific region of the chart, press and hold the left mouse button over the area of interest.
The chart will automatically adjust to highlight the selected region. To return to the original view, click on the "Reset Zoom" button, located in the upper right corner.
Waveform
Similar to the spectrum, the waveform displays the sample data, but as a function of time. The functionalities and tools are applied in the same way.
Tools
The tools are interactive elements designed to manipulate the chart and streamline technical analyses.
Cursor
By activating this tool and clicking on the spectrum, markers are created at specific points. Each marked frequency is identified, and its details are recorded in a table located below the chart.
The cursors can be moved across the spectrum.
Ruler
Measures the difference (frequency/time) between two selected points on the chart.
Harmonic Selector
Highlights the Harmonics related to a selected frequency.
The cursors can be moved across the spectrum.
Sidebands
Highlights the sideband frequencies based on a selected frequency.
Magnet
A tool to assist in the precise selection of frequencies of interest. When this tool is activated, it adjusts the markers to the nearest peak.
Failure Frequencies
The "Failure Frequencies" feature is essential for technical analysis, as it automatically highlights the primary frequencies excited by the most recurrent failure modes in each type of asset.
These frequencies are calculated based on the information provided in the technical data sheets of the assets. Therefore, it is crucial to complete this data adequately to ensure the effective functioning of this feature.
To activate each frequency, simply select the reference component and click on the button corresponding to each frequency.
Bearings
BPFI: Ball Pass Frequency Inner
BSF: Ball Spin Frequency
BPFO: Ball Pass Frequency Outer
FTF: Fundamental Train Frequency
Gears
GMF: Gear Mesh Frequency
FR: Repetition Frequency
MF: Mounting Frequency
RPM Output: Output Rotation
Belts and Pulleys
BPF: Belt Pass Frequency
Motors
2X LF: Double the Line Frequency
Blades/Propellers
BPF: Blade Pass Frequency
How to Compare Samples
Comparing spectrums is one of the most commonly used practices to track the evolution of failures over time.
To add a sample to the chart, click on "Compare Sample".
Select the point(s) on the chart for comparison and click the "Compare" button.
The selected spectrums are displayed on the same chart for comparative analysis. However, each color represents a different spectrum, and each axis should be viewed independently.
Waterfall plot analysis displays the selected spectrums in a sequential view.
