Smart Trac offers three sample types to ensure effective and detailed monitoring of industrial assets: Expert, Autodiagnosis, and Trend. Each profile addresses different analysis levels and operational needs.
Sample Types
1. Expert Sample
Recommended for vibration professionals who require in-depth analysis and customized parameter settings.
Key features:
Customization: Advanced settings for specific analyses.
High Data Quality: Captures complete, uncompressed spectrums.
Machine Listening: Audible playback of machine vibrations for acoustic analysis.
2. AutoDiagnosis and Trend Samples
Use Tractian's artificial intelligence to autonomously optimize monitoring.
Common features:
Adaptability: Adjust to each machine’s specific behavior.
Synergy: Combine real-time data with deep analysis.
Autodiagnosis-specific:
Automatic failure detection.
Balanced quality and frequency of sampling.
Trend-specific:
Real-time detection of failures and anomalies.
Simplified monitoring using global indicators (RMS, Crest Factor, Peak-to-Peak), without FFT spectrum.
Adding a Sample Profile
Access the platform and go to Settings > Monitoring > Sampling Profiles > Edit Preferences.
Click "Add" to create a new one or edit an existing profile.
Required Information:
Name: Example: “CNC Monitoring”
Linked Assets: Select the desired assets
Important note: Eligible assets are automatically linked to the default Tractian profile. To customize, a new profile must be created.
Enabling Always Listening™
For machines with intermittent cycles or short operations, enable Always Listening™.
This ensures sampling begins within the first few seconds of operation, improving accuracy. To enable it, click the corresponding button during profile creation.
Battery Management
Each sampling configuration directly impacts the sensor's battery life.
Use the battery life indicator bar shown during setup as a reference:
Ideal lifespan: Between 3 and 4 years.
Avoid excessive samples (reduce battery life).
Avoid long intervals (compromise monitoring quality).
Enabling Expert Sampling
Expert sampling is optional. Only activate it if a qualified professional is available to analyze the data.
Two usage options:
Daily routine via Sampling Profiles.
Occasional samples via scheduling.
Expert Sample Configuration:
Enable the Expert option.
Set the daily sample time.
Choose whether to configure Velocity and Acceleration together or separately.
Then configure:
Spectrum Range (Hz).
Sample Duration (seconds).
Number of Lines (spectral resolution).
When two variables are set, the third is calculated automatically.
Example:
Range: 8 kHz
Duration: 2 seconds
→ Lines: 32k
Other parameters like Minimum RPM and Resolution are auto-set based on these values. Use the reference table to align settings with asset rotation.
Autodiagnosis and Trend Samples
In these profiles, Tractian’s AI automatically defines technical parameters. You only need to configure the sampling interval. Note that shorter intervals increase battery consumption.
After reviewing all configurations and battery life estimate, click Save.
The new profile will be available for use and future edits.
