Technical Information for Accessing the Tractian platform

Updated over a week ago

This guide gathers everything you need to know to access and use the Tractian platform securely and reliably. Here you will find compatible browsers and devices, the security standards adopted, and how Single Sign-On (SSO) authentication with SAML 2.0 works.

Supported Web Browsers

The platform can be accessed via the following browsers (latest versions):

  • Google Chrome

  • Microsoft Edge

  • Mozilla Firefox

Important note: Outdated or alternative browsers (such as Internet Explorer) may present malfunctions.

Compatible Devices

Mobile Applications

Tractian offers native apps for:

  • Android (Google Play Store)

  • iOS (Apple App Store)

Important note: Use the latest version of the operating system and always keep the Tractian app updated. Outdated devices may experience issues with features such as Bluetooth, image uploads, and offline synchronization.

Windows Tablets

There is no native app for Windows tablets. Access must be exclusively through the browser, with usability limitations: usage depends on a keyboard and mouse, and there is no support for stylus pens, which may impact field experience.

Device Security

Tractian uses corporate devices running Android and iOS, both with encryption enabled by default. These systems natively provide data protection and isolation features. SSO authentication, when enabled, is available and functional across all environments officially supported by the platform.

SSO and SAML 2.0

At Tractian, we use SAML 2.0 for integration with Azure AD, but we also offer support for Google SSO upon request.

SSO Activation

  • Activation requests must be made through the Customer Support or Customer Success team.

  • The customer must specify any particular security or compliance requirements.

  • The needs will be evaluated and validated by the Development team.

  • A monthly OPEX cost applies.

  • Complete technical documentation (step-by-step) is available for the customer's technical team to follow.

Technical Implementation

Integration via Azure AD uses the SAML protocol. Once authenticated in the central domain (Azure AD), the user receives a token (e.g., signed JWT) recognized by Tractian systems. The same flow applies to other compatible SAML providers.

SSO solves the problem of session sharing across different domains, adhering to browser same-origin policy and ensuring security through centralized authentication.

Supported Providers

  • Azure Active Directory (Azure AD): Cloud-based, with support for MFA and SaaS apps.

  • Windows Server Active Directory (AD): On-Premise, with LDAP and GPOs.

  • Google Workspace (upon request): Supported via Google SSO.

  • Okta: Highly compatible identity platform.
