Smart Trac: Technical Specifications

Updated over a week ago

Overview

Smart Trac is an industrial-grade IoT sensor designed to collect vibration, temperature, and runtime data from critical equipment. The collected data is processed through time- and condition-based algorithms for automatic fault detection, based on the expected operational behavior of the monitored machines.

Measurement Parameters

  • Triaxial vibration: up to 32,000 Hz sampling frequency

  • Acceleration: up to 16 g

  • Velocity: up to 100 mm/s RMS

  • Surface temperature: -40 °F to +248 °F

  • Hour meter: automated runtime calculation

Data is collected every 5 minutes. The default configuration uses an 8 kHz sampling rate, sufficient for timely detection of most mechanical and structural failures.

Physical Characteristics

  • Dimensions (without base): 1.57 in (W) × 2.80 in (H) × 1.57 in (D)

  • Total height (with base): 3.43 in

  • Weight: 6.35 oz

  • Mounting methods: structural adhesive or direct screw mounting on the asset housing

Thermal Operating Range

  • Surface temperature: -40 °F to +248 °F

  • Ambient temperature: -40 °F to +194 °F

Safe operation depends on the combined values of surface and ambient temperatures, as defined in the safe operation chart provided in the technical manual.

Protection and Durability

  • Ingress protection rating: IP69K

    • Fully sealed against dust, high-pressure water jets, and steam

    • Not designed for continuous submersion

  • Recommended mounting for high-humidity environments: screw installation

Battery and Autonomy

  • Type: lithium battery

  • Typical lifespan: 3 years

  • Influencing factors: temperature, transmission distance, and data acquisition configuration

Wireless Communication

  • Operating frequency: 915 MHz ISM

  • Communication protocol: IEEE 802.15.4g

  • Security: AES 128-bit encryption

  • Open field range: up to 0.62 miles

  • Indoor range: up to 328 feet
