On the Tractian platform, you can set rules to standardize the creation, execution, and completion of Work Orders. These preferences help ensure processes follow a consistent standard, improve traceability, and increase the reliability of your indicators.
How to access Work Order preferences
Click your profile icon in the top right corner of the screen;
Click on Settings;
Select Work Orders;
The screen will load with the Preferences section, where you can enable, disable, and customize the rules described below.
Work Order Duration
This setting defines which statuses should be considered when calculating the WO duration, directly affecting asset downtime indicators.
Click "Edit" to customize the statuses that count toward duration.
Work Permit
Enabling this option makes it mandatory to validate permits, checklists, and procedures before executing the WO. Click "Edit Procedures" to configure the required items.

Block WO or Request Creation without Asset, Location, or Category
When this option is enabled, the system will prevent the creation of a WO or request unless the following are provided:
A linked asset or location
A selected category
Block WO Completion without Work Logs closed
Prevents a WO from being completed until all assignees have closed their work logs, ensuring all work hours are properly recorded before closing the task.
Block WO Completion without Work Logs
Allows you to require that a WO can only be completed if there is at least one work log registered, even if not all technicians have logged time.
Restrict Status Change to “On Hold”
Limits who can change a WO’s status to “On Hold.” Only authorized users or admins will be allowed to make this change.
