Columns in Detail
ID (Fill only for update)
This is the unique identifier assigned by TRACTIAN to each equipment type. When you export, this column is filled automatically. Only fill it in when you want to update an existing equipment type. Leave it blank to create a new one.
Name
The name of the equipment type as it will appear throughout TRACTIAN. For example: "Centrifugal Pump", "Electric Motor", "Conveyor Belt". Each name must be unique within your company.
Family
The equipment family that this type belongs to. Families help group related equipment types together. For example, "Pumps", "Motors", "Compressors".
Components
The components associated with this equipment type. Choose from the dropdown list, which shows all components configured for your company. You can select multiple components separated by semicolons.
Custom Fields
This spreadsheet does not include custom fields.
Tips for a Successful Import
Make sure every row has a value in the Name column — it is required for all equipment types.
To update an existing equipment type, include its ID. To create a new one, leave the ID blank.
The Name must be unique — if you try to create an equipment type with a name that already exists, the import will show an error.
The Components column only accepts values that are already configured in your company. If you enter a component that doesn't exist, the import will fail for that row.
If you leave the Family or Components columns blank when updating, the existing values in TRACTIAN will not be changed.

Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if I upload an equipment type with a name that already exists?
The import will fail for that row. Each equipment type must have a unique name. If you want to update an existing one, include its ID in the first column.
Can I add new components through this spreadsheet?
No. The Components column only accepts values that are already configured in your company. To add new components, use the TRACTIAN platform settings first, then reference them in this spreadsheet.
What happens if I leave the ID blank?
A new equipment type will be created. If you want to update an existing equipment type, you must include its ID.
Can I undo an import?
Yes. The system supports rollback for equipment type imports. Contact your administrator to revert changes if needed.
What is the Family column used for?
Families group related equipment types together. This helps organize your equipment catalog and makes it easier to find specific types. For example, all pump types could belong to the "Pumps" family.
