Asset Failure Actions — Spreadsheet Guide

Updated yesterday

What Is This Spreadsheet For?

Use this spreadsheet to manage the list of failure actions for your assets in TRACTIAN. Failure actions are the corrective or preventive steps taken in response to a failure — for example, "Replace bearing" or "Lubricate gears." You can use this spreadsheet to add new failure actions in bulk or update the names of existing ones.

Can I Import, Export, or Both?

  • Import (upload data into TRACTIAN): Yes

Columns in Detail

ID (Fill only for update)

  • Leave this column blank when adding a new failure action.

  • Fill this column only when you want to rename an existing failure action. The ID tells TRACTIAN which record to update.

  • If you enter an ID that does not exist in TRACTIAN, the row will be rejected.

Name

  • The name of the corrective or preventive action (for example, "Replace Drive Belt" or "Clean Filter").

  • Each failure action name must be unique across your company — you cannot have two failure actions with the same name.

  • This column is required for every row.

Custom Fields

This spreadsheet does not include custom fields.

Tips for a Successful Import

  • Leave the ID (Fill only for update) column blank for every new failure action — only fill it when renaming an existing one.

  • Make sure every row has a value in the Name column — rows with a blank name will be skipped.

  • Each failure action name must be unique. If two rows in the same file have the same name, both may be rejected.

  • If you are updating an existing failure action, double-check that the ID matches exactly what is stored in TRACTIAN.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I update an existing failure action or only create new ones? You can do both. Leave the ID column blank to create a new failure action, or fill it with the existing ID to update its name.

What happens if I enter a name that already exists? The row will be rejected with an error. Each failure action name must be unique within your company.

What happens if I enter an ID that does not exist in TRACTIAN? The row will be rejected. Make sure the ID you enter matches a failure action already in the system.

Can I delete failure actions using this spreadsheet? No. This spreadsheet only supports creating and renaming failure actions. Deletions must be done directly in TRACTIAN.
