Sensor Management

Updated this week

The TRACTIAN platform allows you to visualize all your sensors so that you can effectively manage each one.

Accessing the Sensor Management

  1. In the platform, go to the 'Settings' tab;

2. Click on 'Monitoring' in the left-hand bar;

3. Next, click on 'Sensors'.

You will see a table showing all your sensors. It is divided into General, Not Installed, and those that are Installed and Offline.

Sensor table

At the top of the table, you can search for a sensor if you are looking for data on a specific one.

Next to it, you can filter the sensors by signal strength. You can filter by Good, Average, Bad or Offline signal.

General

The general sensor table has 7 columns:

  1. Device ID: the identification code or name of your sensor.

  2. Version: the version of the sensor (Smart Trac, Smart Trac Pro, Smart Trac Ex).

  3. Connectivity: whether your sensor is Online, Flashing or Offline.

  4. Signal Strength: here you can check whether your sensor's signal is Good, Average, Bad or Offline.

  5. Receiver: the receiver to which the sensor is connected.

  6. Asset: the asset to which the sensor is connected.

  7. Last Connection: the date and time when the sensor was last online.

Not installed

Uninstalled sensors are those that have no associated Location or Asset. The non-installed sensors table has the same columns as the general table.

Installed and Offline

In this table, you can see which sensors are installed but still offline. Sensors of this type are already connected to a receiver, but not to an asset, so the Assets column will never be filled in.

This table contains 6 columns:

  1. Device ID: the identification code or name of your sensor.

  2. Version: the version of the sensor (Smart Trac, Smart Trac Pro, Smart Trac Ex).

  3. Connectivity: always Offline.

  4. Receiver: the receiver to which the sensor is connected.

  5. Asset: the asset to which the sensor is connected.

  6. Last Connection: the date and time when the sensor was last online. If it has never been online, this data will not be available.

Managing a Sensor

By clicking on a device, you can see more details about it.

This page will show you more information and the connectivity history of your sensor and, in addition to checking the data already in the table, you can also:

  1. Get more information on Signal Strength over the last 7 days. The gray bands will always indicate times when the sensor has been offline.

    Next to the chart, you can filter between:

    - 7 days of a given period: you select the 7-day period you want to analyze;

    - Last 7 days: view the signal strength over the last week;

    - Last 7 days online: this filter allows you to view a range between the date the sensor was last online and the previous 7.

  2. Find out which Receivers have been connected to that sensor in the last 7 days. You will see a maximum of 6 receivers that have been connected to the sensor; if there are more, they will be under Other. In the graph view, the cyan bar shows the period during which the Sensor was connected to the receiver. The gray bands indicate the Offline status.

  3. Access the last week's Connection History, which shows all the receivers the sensor has communicated with in the previous 7 days.

Sensor Management in the Tractian App

To access sensor management in the app, just follow these steps:

  1. Open the Menu;

  2. Click on "Sensors";

  3. Filter or sort according to your needs and click on a sensor to view its details.
