Inspection Management
Updated this week

The Inspection functionality on the TRACTIAN platform allows you to standardize the verification of equipment conditions and proactively identify failures. Integrated with monitoring and failure management tools, this solution contributes to efficient, data-driven asset management.

In addition to identifying failures, inspections play two key roles:

  • Data Auditing: Inspections are used to audit information, both when verifying automatically generated insights and during offline predictive inspections such as thermography and oil analysis. This ensures a complete and accurate assessment of equipment conditions.

  • Predictive Team Management: The functionality facilitates prioritizing activities and delegating responsibilities for addressing failures identified by TRACTIAN’s intelligent monitoring. This allows the predictive maintenance team to work in a more organized, efficient, and focused manner on critical interventions.

Accessing Inspection Management

To access the dedicated Inspections section on the platform, go to the "Reliability" tab and click on "Inspections".

Inspection Viewing Modes

Inspections can be viewed in two ways:

  • Panel View: Ideal for detailed management of a specific inspection.

  • Table View: Ideal for managing multiple inspections at once.

Panel View

The panel view displays complete details for each registered inspection. Filters allow you to refine which inspections are displayed using criteria such as:

  • Responsible

  • Date

  • Location/Asset

  • Priority

Inspections created from insights include a link below the title, allowing direct access to the linked insight. Each inspection also displays its status, enabling real-time tracking of execution progress.

Table View

The table view condenses multiple inspections into a compact space, making it ideal for bulk management. This view allows you to filter inspections by specific criteria and add or edit parameters as needed.

This approach is practical and efficient for organizing large volumes of inspections.

Registering an Inspection

Inspections can be registered in two main ways:

  1. From an Insight: Automatically generated by the platform when a failure is detected through monitoring.

  2. Manually Requested: Created directly by the user to address specific needs or planned reviews.

Inspections from an Insight

After analyzing the insight generated by the platform, the asset must be evaluated in the field. Follow these steps to register an inspection:

  1. Click on "Inspection" and select the option to create a new inspection for the identified equipment.

2. Fill in the main information:

  • Inspection Name: Provide a clear title, such as "Lubricant Inspection."

  • Description: Add a brief explanation of the inspection’s purpose.

  • Responsible: Assign those responsible for executing the inspection.

  • Priority: Define the urgency of the activity (e.g., High, Medium, or Low).

3. Linking Multiple Insights

If the asset has more than one pending insight, you can link them with the same inspection. This allows for an integrated evaluation of all anomalies, avoiding duplicate inspections and optimizing the process.

4. Automated Procedures

For each insight, the TRACTIAN platform generates specific procedures tailored to the equipment, guiding the maintenance team in investigating and resolving the failure.

For example, if a sealed bearing is registered for the asset, the platform will suggest replacement instead of relubrication, as this is the most appropriate action for that component type.

If your team already has standardized procedures that need to be applied automatically to insights, you can configure them in the Procedures Settings section. This allows you to include activities such as verifying the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), implementing safety instructions for work at heights, or applying specific maintenance tasks for particular machines and equipment according to team standards.

If you wish to modify or add additional procedures during the inspection, you can manually include them within the activity. For more details on configuring or creating procedures, refer to the Procedures article.

5. Saving the Inspection

Once the inspection is registered, save it. The procedure will automatically be linked to the designated responsible team members.

The inspection will then be ready and waiting for the field team to execute the activities as instructed. Progress and results can be monitored in real-time on the platform.

6. Finalizing an Inspection

After completing the field verification and filling out all necessary fields, finalize the inspection and update its status. The inspection can be completed directly in the Tractian App, which allows information to be filled in even offline. Once the device returns to a connected environment, the data will be automatically synchronized with the platform.

Depending on your inspection workflow, you may be directed to verify related insights. If you are also responsible for verifying the insight, it is recommended to perform this check immediately after completing the inspection or at a more convenient time. If someone else is responsible for the insight verification, you can skip this step.

Manually Requested Inspections

If you want to manually add a new inspection, follow these steps:

  1. Access the Inspections page and click on "Add".

2. Fill out the inspection fields as described in the previous section and save.

After completing the field verification and procedures, finalize the inspection and update its status.

If the inspection is not linked to an insight but a non-conformity is identified, you will be redirected to the Events page to log the detected failure.

For more information on managing events, refer to the article dedicated to Events.
