Scheduling Expert Samples

Updated over 2 weeks ago

The Expert Sample is used for specific and in-depth analyses, allowing manual configuration of the sample’s technical parameters. It can be scheduled as a one-time or recurring task, depending on the maintenance team’s needs.

Accessing the feature

  1. Go to the Analytics tab in the top menu;

  2. Select the desired asset at the top of the screen;

  3. Click on the “Expert Mode” button, located in the upper-right corner of the analysis charts;

  4. Then, click on “Scheduled Samples”;

  5. In the displayed window, click “+ Schedule Sample.”

Filling out the schedule

On the scheduling screen, provide the following information:

  1. Asset

    Choose the asset where the Expert Sample will be carried out. Only assets with compatible sensors are shown. The sensor must have at least 25% signal strength. This information is displayed automatically once the asset is selected.

  2. Date and Time

    Set the date and time for the sample. Scheduling must be done at least one hour in advance.

  3. Sample Profile

    You can use the default Tractian profile or set custom parameters tailored to your application.

  4. Speed and Acceleration Configuration

  • Single Configuration: All three axes (Horizontal, Vertical, and Axial) share the same parameters.

  • Independent Configuration: Set distinct parameters for each axis.

Defining technical parameters

After setting the profile, configure the technical parameters:

  • Spectrum Range (Hz): frequency band analyzed in the sample.

  • Sample Duration (s): time the sensor will actively collect data.

  • Number of Lines: defines the spectrum resolution, calculated automatically from the first two variables.

Practical example

If selected:

  • Spectrum Range: 8,000 Hz

  • Sample Duration: 2 seconds

The system automatically calculates:

  • Number of Lines: 32,000

  • Minimum RPM: 88 RPM

  • Spectrum Resolution: 0.24 Hz

These values help assess sensitivity and match the machine’s rotation speed.

Description and Notification

You can add a description with relevant details about the schedule.
If you’d like to be notified when the sample is completed, enable “Notify me when the sample is completed.”

Important note: More detailed samples consume more sensor battery life.

Managing scheduled samples

All scheduled samples are organized under Scheduled Samples, divided into:

  • Open: samples scheduled but not yet performed.

  • Completed: samples already executed.

From this screen you can:

  • Filter schedules by asset;

  • Edit pending samples;

  • Cancel scheduled samples if necessary.

Each sensor can have up to 10 Expert Samples scheduled at once. To add more, wait for pending ones to finish.

Viewing completed samples

After execution, completed samples appear under the Completed tab. Inside, you can:

  • Review all parameters used;

  • Visualize full spectrum charts;

  • Analyze results in Expert Mode.
